Celebrate Switzerland's birthday
The Gurten celebrates Swiss National Day with a culinary, musical, and traditional program. Instead of short-lived fireworks, we focus on a sustainable and low-noise experience with family and friends.
National Day is the perfect opportunity to spend the day with your loved ones on Bern's local mountain. The day traditionally begins with the August 1st brunch: for families at Huusbüffe, for gourmets at Gurtners, and for those who appreciate tradition at Schüür. In the afternoon and evening, Swiss classics such as raclette and cervelat sausages invite you to enjoy a convivial get-together at the Bahnhöfli outdoor stand.
The Frohsinn band plays traditional Swiss instruments – depending on the weather, either in front of the Bahnhöfli or in the Kulm building.
Children can make colorful, flowery, and colorful crafts in the Gurtengärtli.
The park is the perfect place to relax, play games, have a picnic, or take a fireworks-free walk with your four-legged friend.
Out of respect for the wildlife protection zone on the slopes of the Gurten, the Gurten is completely fireworks-free. We would like to point out that fireworks of any kind are prohibited. Checks will be carried out. Please respect the Gurten as a refuge for Bern's wildlife. Thank you for your understanding.
