Mountainbike Trail in Bern

Whizzing down Bern's local mountain

The trail for mountainbiker

The Gurtenbahn cable car takes you to the start of the bike trail in comfort. Since the early 2000s, mountain bikers have enjoyed this attractive, city-close trail, which offers great fun and is of medium difficulty (red). In spring 2025, the 2.4 km trail with a 240 m descent was completely rebuilt, extending it by around 700 m.
The GurtenTrail 2.0 is a progressive flow trail with around 40 jumps, numerous bends and many other creative trail features. All obstacles on the main line can be rolled over. At the end of the trail, on the third floor of the car park, there is a bike wash that is available to all mountain bikers free of charge.

all year round daily, 07.00–21.30

The trail can be used free of charge.

  • In the event of high passenger volumes, especially on Sundays between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., railway staff may restrict the transport of mountain bikes.
  • Cyclists must use the separate entrance on the far right. The separate compartments in the panorama carriage are pre-reserved.
  • If mountain bikes or cyclists are very dirty, special consideration should be given to other passengers. A washing facility is available free of charge in the car park. Clothes should also be cleaned as thoroughly as possible.
  • Please do not leave rucksacks, bags, drinks bottles, etc. in the bike entrance.
  • Cycling on the stairs in the car park is prohibited.
  • We recommend that cyclists take great care and cycle at a moderate speed on the busy road back to the valley station.
